How many loan guarantees has the U.S. Department of Energy committed under Section 1705 of Title XVII of the Energy Policy Act of 2005?
Section 1705 is a temporary program designed to address the current economic conditions of the nation. It authorizes loan guarantees for certain renewable energy systems, electric power transmission systems and leading edge biofuels projects that commence construction no later than September 30, 2011. To date, the DOE Loan Programs Office has issued loan guarantee commitments (conditional or final awards) to 18 projects, with guarantee amounts ranging from $16 million to $2.105 billion.

To date, the DOE Loan Programs Office has issued conditional loan guarantee commitments to four projects, with guarantee amounts ranging from $72 million to $8.33 billion.
